Smuttynose Brewery with Boston Blend Ashlar

Smuttynose Brewery with Boston Blend Ashlar Cladding

Applications: Foundations, Interior Walls, SidingLocation: New Hampshire

What was once the site of a historic farm is now the location of a state-of-the-art LEED Certified Green brewery. Smuttynose Brewing Company got its start decades ago in Portsmouth, NH. As the company and brand grew so did the need for more space. The original farm located in Hampton, NH was moved to another spot on the property and converted into the Hayseed restaurant. You can enjoy tasty treats while sampling the many different flavors of beer brewed and bottled onsite.

In keeping with the local theme, Boston Blend Ashlar, a local New England stone, was used as cladding along the exterior foundation, entrance, and interior store walls. You can purchase everything from a keg of your favorite beer to your very own Smutty the Harbor Seal puppet at the brewery store.

George W. Pynn Masonry did a great job with this natural split-face veneer stone. A more rustic look was achieved by installing the Boston Blend Ashlar with a standard (typically 1/4 – 3/8 inch thick) grout joint. The stone flows seamlessly from the exterior to the interior while elevating the overall design.

Smuttynose Brewery continues to go strong with over 1.5 million gallons of beer sold a year, in 28 different states and 7 different countries.
