What types of finishes can I get and what are the differences?
A Sawn Finish is a smooth finish, similar to the finish in a sawn piece of wood. A Rocked Finish or Rocking is using a chisel on the edges of stone to create an uneven rough surface. For a Thermal Finish we apply an open flame to the stone surface to create a smooth yet coarse sandpaper-like textured finish. Sandblasting is used with a template to etch letters and numbers on stone.
What is the difference between rock and split face granite?
Split face is the division of rock by cleavage.
Rock face is similar to split face, except that the face of the stone is pitched to a given line and plane producing a bold appearance, rather than the comparatively straight face obtained in split face.
